Historic Germantown | Homes Tour
I thoroughly enjoyed the Homes Tour in Germantown yesterday afternoon. The homes are absoultely fablous! Each one preserving a time in Nashville’s history. I am thankful to each of these gracious homeowner’s for opening their homes…
I was able to get some photos of a few of the homes on the tour before it got dark. Some of the color is off due to the low light.

Look what a great sport Santa is!

truly a STAR…
meet G.

I had the amazing honor to photo Mr. G. here. This fablous young boy has been in a number of movies, with a feature movie coming out soon! G’s Mom
is the founder and President of Graham Entertainment (click link to check out the agency site).

Working with G was a blast. All his experience with filming and modeling lets him know what to do, but his natural talent and ease with beging photographed is what makes him truly a star! During the shoot, I explained to him that I needed to get more light in his eyes, not expecting any type of responce from him, but he asked, “Don’t you have a reflector?” I laughed out loud and will always remember that moment. Classic, I LOVE IT!

I’m thinking I will need to share a few more photos of Mr. G. Here are several peeks for Mom now… I LOVE what I do. Heart pounding, adrenaline rush, full out joy, that is photography to me! Sounds like a good thing, right?!
My Senior Spokesmodel info is still coming SOON! Senior’s for 2011, check back soon for your chance to SHINE for Laurie Lehman Photograhy, LLC and earn amazing benefits as a Spokesmodel…

what’s in your freezer….
Yesterday I was in total domestic diva mode! Pork tenderloin is on sale at Publix for a low low price, so I bought 2. Had the butcher cut them up for me, leaving me with lots and lots of chops, 2 rib roasts, 4 chop steakes, and several cuts for pork strips (great for pork fried rice and other delish Chinese dishes)… SO I got busy putting some investment cooking lessons in action… I even got to use my very own home grown oregano! I made a Jerk dry rub, Teriyaki marinade, and a Cuban marinade… and let them all marniade over-night.. Today I just bagged and labled them all. The trick is to pack the baggies so the meat is flat, resulting in a thin baggie to store in the freezer. Stack them flat on a cookie sheet and put in freezer…

Jerk Rub- 1 T. onion powder, 1 1/2 t. ground allspice, 1 t. ground thyme, 1/2 t. ground ginger, 1/2 t. cinnamon, 1/2 t. cayenne, 1/4 t. freshly ground nutmeg, 1/4 t. garlic powder.
Teriyaki Marinade- 1/2 c. salad oil, 1/2 c. cider vinegar, 1c. soy sauce, 1 lg. garlic clove minced, 4 T. brown sugar, 2 t. ginger
Cuban Marinade- 1/4 c. fresh orange juice, 1/8 c. fresh lime juice, 1/4 c. fresh lime juice, 1/4 c. dried sherry, 1 sm. onion sliced thickly, 1 T. pressed garlic, 1 1/2 t. oregano, 1/2 t. cumin. In a small bowl and using a fork, mix together garlic, oregano and cumin to form a paste. Prick meat all over with fork or tip of knife (I use a Pampered Chef tenderizer-see photo(ha)}. Slather garlic mixture over meat. Place in nonreactive bowl (no metal). Cover with juices and sherry. Add onion. Turn meat in marinade occassionally.
All marinades are good for pork, beef, & chicken. Teriyaki good for shrimp too.. Marinade at least 2-4 hours or over-night…
Hummm, wonder when boneless, skinless chicken is going on sale?
vintage baby…
doll and buggy… one of my favorite children photo props…

Little Wing…
All her friends call her little wing. She flys rings around them all. She comes to town when the children sing. And leaves them feathers when they fall, and leave them feathers when they fall. Little wing dont fly away when the summer turns to fall. Don’t you know some people say winters the best time of them all- winter’s the best of them all….
I just love the children’s music of Elizabeth Mitchell. Her songs sung with children tug at my heart. If you have small children or Grand children or just have a tender spot for the precious sweetness of childhood, check out Elizabeth’s website… http://youaremyflower.org/home.html you can listen to her songs at the site…
My time photographing children is such a joy to me. I delight in the beauty of childhood. Is there anything more precious then the out stretched chubby arm of a toddler, as they seek to give you a flower or leaf? The open joy that dances in their eyes and shines in their laughter, is light to my heart and soul. Truly, you are looking into the face of God when you spend time with a child… When you are ready for photographs that capture the joy of childhood in your child, I hope you will contact me…
Blessings to all….
life of the Bradford Pear tree…

our beautiful round healthy bradford pear was due for another “trim”, I put trim in ” ” because the trim is more like a hacking! If I were a tree I’m sure I
would have heard it’s protests….

So here it is in all it’s nakedness… Stripped of it’s years of growth and shelter for the many birds that resided in it… I say many birds because there are
very obvious signs on our driveway during the spring and summer… Signs I have to, drag out the garden hose from the other side of the house, to remove.
I wish I could post a audio of said birds protests once the tree butcher’s had left. (OK, that’s a bit harsh to call them butcher’s, but look at this poor remnant left standing!)
The birds were squacking up a storm and flying all around wildly. I made a quick escape into the house before they turned on me..
It’s possible too many trees were cut up in this town…
I am truly going to miss the bright red ball of leafs this fall and the white spring blooms that make it look like a giant popcorn ball…
So that’s it for now… in the life of our bradford pear tree…

the Col. is home!

The past 6 1/2 months our little Lehman family has been seperated by Jim’s deployment to Afghanistan…

There are moments in your life when words just can’t describe the moment. This is one of them. Seeing Jim after months of waiting, praying, hoping and
dreaming of his safe return…There he was… Prayers answered…

Shouts of joy echoed the Atlanta GA. airport, Sept. 15th, as our beloved Airmen and women reached the area we were anxiouly waiting in. Many, tears of joy.

How I missed this smile!

We arrived home Wed. Sept. 16th… A couple of our precious friends and their children (also precious friends!) Where on stayby for the text we were on our way. They came and put up the welcome home decorations.
We claimed Psalm 91 as our protection and promise God would bring Jim home safely. We are so very thankful and blessed. Our family once again united. All our thanks and love to our many family and friends, who supported us with prayers and encourgement. All our praise to the Lord and His blessings on Jim and our family while we were apart…
So that part of our lives is now over. Would I want to do it again? No. Did many wonderful things happen because of this experience, YES. We are getting back to our routine little by little. Jim is adjusting to the time change. Calvin is thrilled his Dad is back. I am over joyed ♥
While Jim was away I put my photography business on hold. I am gearing up for some fall sessions and working on some marketing for High School Seniors this coming Spring. I am taking a limited amount of fall session appointments. Please contact me if you have questions.
thanks for stopping in…
