now for the guys…

these photos are from my family session last week. looky at these 2 handsome young men! i enjoyed my time so much with these guys and mom and dad! I like to engage the kids in some conversion during my time with them. This gets them relaxed and not so focused on the camera. I found out from this 6 year old at the top, that he “didn’t LIKE girls at ALL!” just the way he said it has stuck with me and I chuckle everytime I recall it… I told him I bet the girls LIKED him… I’m sure “girls” will be quite the topic in this family sooner than Mom and Dad are ready for them… :)

I just love this shot… and because I do, I love it in black in white as well!

Thanks Stephanie, for an awesome session with your family and these amazing young men.. It was a pleasure….

trick or treat…

Lots and lots of fun… that’s what our Halloween night was this year! sadly Jim was at reserve duty and missed the party our friends the Moses’s hosted….

The Titan’s can attribute their success this year solely to this obsessed fan! She just loves her man, Rich the Computer Guy! Josie of, Josie and the Pussy Cats, (remember that cartoon? they were the crime fighting Pussy Cat girl band… memories! that theme song is running through my head… I think I have it wrong though, it was many years ago…) showed up! Later in the night I borrowed Kristy’s camera, hence the collage of photos on the bottom. Gov. Palin and her Reggie boyfriend showed up once it got dark, the scandal should hit the media sooner or later! hee… I came as a Disney tourist, I know lame and last minute, I bet you thought I came as “Goofy” didn’t you?! I’m that too of course…

Had a mini photo shoot with the Titan fan’s daughter… She came in with that big black wig on and I grabbed my camera! I could photograph this child’s beautiful blue eyes everyday and not grow tired of it! Same as the little Minnie Mouse, she has graced my blog several times as well. True Muses to my photography every time…

The older kids were too busy watching a movie to be bothered with photos. I got one group shot before they headed out to get some candy… Calvin, by the way, is the Gorilla in the collage… He had an awesome time too.

I love these fun, amazing, zany friends… I am looking forward to Halloween next year… What can I dress Jim as???? hummm?

chow, ya all!!

worth every bit

I don’t know how it’s possible that SO much personality is packed into this little body, but it just is. Yes, there are a few tears on her sweet face in this photo along with that most precious smile! She had a few different ideas about our photo session. I just love this photo of her “stealing” the show! She may have given me a run for my money but a little one this precious can’t get away without wonderful captures! It was worth every bit of work…

This post follows in relation to the Photographers Prayer post.

It is my desire to capture the beauty of each person I photograph, created first by our Heavenly Father. I see the beauty of each person He created and love noticing His handy work. It does not go unnoticed as I process images, the outline of a child’s lips, the unique color of the eyes even among siblings, and I marvel at His love I see in the children He created, unique and wonderfully made. I love what I do. It brings me closer to my Father. I see and feel how totally remarkable our Creator is… (click the photo to link to the source for this photo, neat site!)

Blessing to all this Sunday morning….

The Photographer’s Prayer

Oh God, as I bring my subject into focus and prepare to make each portrait, never let me forget that I’m creating treasures for some family, a keepsake for loved ones. Make me sensitive to the qualities and virtues of others, that I may draw out into the light the beautiful radiant belongings of their hearts.

Help me to be an artist, collecting the beauty of every soul, the glow of youth, the gentleness, the laughter or tears of each life that is precious in Thy sight. Deeper than a means of livelihood, give me the perspective to see my photographer’s art as a service to others, making life richer and more memorable.

And, dear Lord, between the lights and shadows, the ups and downs and the rolling years, keep me from getting out of focus or off center, so that my life and work may be framed with dignity and colored with contentment …

AMEN

I always say a prayer when I head out to meet a family for a session. I ran across this prayer the other day on Skye’s blog. (she is an amazing talented and famous child photographer)

This expresses just what I want to accomplish with each session.
